59dbJG/JC The interpretation of Mark 2:10 as being
a
"close reading"
of Daniel 7:14 enables us
to begin to understand anew the other puzzling Son of Man statement
in Mark 2, known as the incident of the plucking of grain on the Sabbath by some Pharisees
who challenge Jesus as to this seemingly insouciant or arrogant viola-tion of the Jewish Sabbath?! Jesus defends them vigorously.
This passage helps us understand how it was that Jesus saw himself (or is portrayed as seeing himself) both as the divine Redeemer and as the Davidic Messiah whom the Jews were expecting:
'ONE SABBATH HE WAS GOING THROUGH THE GRAINFIELDS;
& as they made their way his disciples began to pluck heads of grain.
And the Pharisees said to him,
"Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the sabbathday?"
And he said to them,
"Have you never read what David did, when he was in need & was hungry, he and those who were with him:
how he entered the house of G d, when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any
but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?"
...
And he said to them,
"The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath!"

The whole
POINT
here is thus 'reconstructing {"Jewish"} history {'human evolution'}:
the fact that we copy names & circumstances from all kinds of other cultures,
'gods & goddesses', creation tales, floods, fire mountains, earthquakes, 'good, bad & ugly',
sharing ALL OUR food/texts,
Interpreting Past, Present & Probable Future,
using alternative visions & all kinds
of other possibilities?!
In fact myDi is also made of such hellish tombstones & these Castles in the Sky as well:
our minds, feeling, experiences & hopes for the Future
all feed on what we've been through
('alone' or/and "Together"
!
We can't stop ourselves
from explaining our dreams & nightmares by repea-tedly applying all our knowledge,
Art & Creation,
to dust & details, life & death,
fears & fruitful fictions to all that we
'know' & hope for
...
In this way
'a diary' is
THE
ideal Medium
for what happens in-between birth & death:
daily (& nightly) observations, books & stories, love and hate,
that throw us out on distant beaches & 'invent' close readings of ourselves &
'every other living creature' ~ thus also
OUR
diaries can hold our dearest
memories & artistic conlusions, darkest hours & heavenly 'experiences' (or 'anything in-between'
~ therefore I dig diaries in all (st)ages.
