I
am confident
that the first three Gospels
reliably suggest the reflected reality
of a "historical" Yeshu and I do not like
the dichotomy made betweem the "historical" Yehoshua
and "kerygmatic" Christ: I am not suggesting in any way that the texts
should be read uncritically & our conservative approach to these old Gospels
also stems from their Jewish identity. As a Jew we should study, as far as possible, the various trends within ancient Judaism, because this course of study is very helpful for interpreting the Jewish aspects
of the Gospels, particularly the werds and deeds of Yeshua. We have not written these entries to describe
JC from the "Jewish standpoimt." The truth of the matter is that we are motivated by scholarly interest to learn as much as we can about JC, but at the same time neither being a practicing Jew nor a Christian,
I am idependent of any church, synagogue, temple, mosque or
sectarian group claiming
THE TRUTH!

I
readily admit,
however, that I
personally identify myself with
JC's Jewish worldview, both moral &
political, and I believe that the content
of his teachings and the approach he embraced have
always had the potential to change our world & prevent
the greatest part of
evil & suffering!

I never heard
any accusation of
deicide directed against
'my people'.

This
strong emphasis
which was placed on the teaching of "JC"
and on the early, 'believing' community in Yerushalayim,
stirred in me a healthy, positive interest in Yeshu, and
influenced the very understanding of my own 'faith'
as well: interacting with 'christians' played a very
decisive role in the cultivation
of my interests.

Their influence
was one of the foremost
reasons that I decided to occupy
myself with the person and
message of Yehoshua the
Notsri

the "Moshiah"
