38790mydibibsY4: origin? It was not written by one

PERSON ONLY
AT ONE PARTICULAR TIME!
Rather it is a collection of the works
of a lot of different writers - Some Known,
and mostly unknown - stretching over a period approximately
from BCE 900 down to 200 BCE? The authors often gathered information
from all kinds of sources & stories which everybody knew because they had been
handed down by word of mouth from
generation to generation......

At other times
they were able to record more or less
what they themselves saw & heard! By about 200 BC it was decided
that from now on nothing more should be added to already existing collections?
The numerous books were then sorted, examined, discussed {some were “excluded” &
later incorporated into a work by now known as the APOCRYPHA}, put into an agreed order,
& finally also brought out as a single book or Bible! In the year 90 CE the present order of BibleBooks was ratified at the Council of Yamnia! It should be remembered that the Bible (referred to by Christians as “The Old Testament”) was originally written in Hebrew by Jews & for Jews, & was then translated
into Greek, Aramaic, Syriac & Latin, & then
into most of the other languages
of the world.

The purpose
of all these discoveries, memories
& different copies??!

The Bible is not
intended to be a text-book
of Science or even History (although it does contain
much of the early history of the Jewish people). Instead,
it is intended as a BOOK of Religion supplying us with a lot of moral & ethical teaching,
often couched in poetic terms and symbolism influenced by the mythology
of the age, but always stressing some basic religious message
(f.i. Creation stories, the Garden òf Eden & Noah’s Ark,
Travels, Prophets, Songs, Stories,
Happenings, Interpretations &
Fantastic Human
Visions.)
