RECEIVED THE ATTENTION OF SECOND-CENTURY HISTORIANS LIKE PLINY THE YOUNGER & TACITUS, BOTH OF WHOM MENTION YESH BUT REVEAL LITTLE ABOUT HIM, SAVE FOR HIS ARREST & EXECUTION - an important historical note, as we saw, but one that sheds little light between 113 & 118 on the details of his life?! We are left again & again with whatever information can be gleaned from the 'new testament'!?

The first written testimony we have about Yeshu comes from the epistles of SP, an early follower of YESHUA who died around 66 CE (twice as old as his Master?): Sha'ul Paul's first epistle, I Thessalonians, can be dated between 48 & 50, some 2 decades after Yehoshua's murderous death! The trouble with SP, however, is that he displays an extraordinary lack of interest in the historical Y:
Only 3 scenes from Y's life are ever mentioned in his epistles: the socalled Last Supper @ I Corinthians 11:23-26, the crucifixion @ I C. 2:2, &, most crucially for SP, the resurrection, without which, he claims, our preaching is empty & your faith in vain @ I Cor. 15:14!

SP may be an excellent source for those interested in the early formation of Christianity, but he is a poor guide for uncovering the historical Y.! That leaves u with the gospels, which present their own set of problems; to begin with, with the possible exeception of Lucky Luke, none of the gospels we have we're written by the person after whom they ware named? That actually seems to be true also of most of the books in OT & NOT? Such so-called pseudepigraphical works, or works attributed to but not written by a specific author, were after all extremely common in the ancient world & should by no means be thought of as forgeries! Naming a book after a person was a standard way of reflecting that person's beliefs or representing his or her school of thought!

Regardless, the gospels are not, nor were they ever meant to be, a historical documentation of Y's life?! These are not eyewitness accounts of Y's words, works and deeds/actions recorded precisely by 'people who knew him'! They are testimonies of faith composed by communities of faith & written down many years after the events they describe: simply put, the gospels tell us "about Y as Messiah, not Y The Màn"!

The most needed & interesting film Paul Verhoeven could make is one where Yesh is born from a Miryam impregnated by Ben Panthera, growing up in the western part of Sinaiï or of Aegypt, traveling through as many countries as possible around the mediterranean sea & in the far east as a lost son, & returning home in his late twenties to Galilee to walk around about three years inbetween the Levanon & Nabataea on both sides of the river Yardén?! Out of meeting with religions & filosophies, heathens & zealots, rich & poor, male & female comes wisdom?!!
