jbml thln 22c in any case

"you are silent, I was"
is a logically puzzling
statement?

I
have to
resist not listening
to it,
have to resist shouting back at it
(another way of not listening to it),
have to resist,
also,
sullen silence in response to it;
unless
(taking the statement seriously)
I am willing to risk my fellow's not being,
or more precisely his having been
(reading "was" here as equivalent to
"having been?"
