Free Love & tenderness for lost souls/old memories

Studies that fully respect what once was called "local knowledge" provide richer access to other situations than could be accomplished by simply cataloging every identity that should properly represented.

Careful diagnosis of the failure of "culturally relevant" reading materials to connect to the lives of schoolchildren should be attended to by anyone concerned with the promise and difficulties of "multiculturalism" as a value or as a solution.

Similarly my Hope is that critical insights like those afforded by countless others, concerning the inseparable relation between the de-velopment of reading as a practice and an ideology & changing relations of power along lines of class & gender in European history, surely will open further creative cracks in the monolithic notion of literate "Western civilization."

Several of those essays suggest, in response to these old questions quoted repeatedly before in the first paragraphs of this diary, that we will not get very far with a simple notion of "reading" as a tech-nology or practice independent of social context, since close examination of the nearest lexical equivalents of "reading" in other times & places reveals the particular set of expectations our own modern European notion conjures up.

Here we have, of course, not speech but another book, & since the format of this diary in not quite standard but very "new" & "unusual", it will doubtless be read & judged by the same old conven-tions applied to other secular "scholarship" in the (changing) modern European traditions & developments to all sides ...

Het mooie aan onze mydibreinfestijnen is vooral deze combinatie van virtuele 'cyberspecial' ontwikkelingen vol van iPods & iPads voor ons herinneren, verhalen vertellen, muziek, literaratuur, dagelijks nieuws & wat daar allemaal uit kan voortvloeien via onverwachte hersenconnecties, fantastische gewaarwordingen & daaruitvoortvloeiende daden van Hope.

Wat vroeger haast noodzakelijkerwijs beperkt was tot een bepaalde persoon (of groepjes van 'insiders', is nu open & bloot voor ieder die ervan kennis wil nemen binnen korte tijd nadat dit alles is doorverteld, opgeschreven, gecorrigeerd & 'aangepast' aan tijd, plaats & 'tender brainwash'?!

Het probleem van mensen was altijd een totaal gescheiden ontwikkeling van potenties onder bepaalde omstandigheden: ook al sprak & schreef men dan wel 'dezelfde taal', begrip & waardering bleven vaak uit door totaal andere woordkeuze, culturele/sociale individuele associaties & grote onwil, misschien wel aan beide zijden, om echt 'in de ander door te dringen' tot op het merg van ons korte bestaan. NU kunnen we met behulp van de moderne techniek & vrije beschikking over onze tijdinvulling & interesse binnen de kortste tijd doordringen in de anderen: je bent vrij om zelf te beslissen wat je waarom wanneer wilt lezen of niet & daar ook al of niet op te reageren of wat dan ook mee te doen. Dit is ware vrijheid.
