Alles heeft met al het andere te maken, en iedereen met ieder ander: het probleem is alleen dat we daar verder heel verschillende gedachten en gevoelens over opnahouden. Dat wil nog weleens botsen?
Upon the discovery of its literature, the Dead Sea community became a leading candidate to be one of the
important forerunners of the Gnostic worldview, in the light of its unique ideology. Like the various Gnostic movements, the Dead Sea Scrolls emphasize the secrecy of its doctrine, while maintaining a starkly dualis-tic approach to humanity & the world, a world that it pessimistically views as given to the dominion of dark-ness. The Qumran worldview is also similar to Gnosticism in its firm belief that, in the end,'when those who
are born of sin are locked up, evil will disappearr before justice as darkness disappears before light. As the
smoke vanishes, and no longer exists, so will evil vanish forever. And justice will be revealed like the sun which regulates the world ... And knowledge will pervade the world, and thus there will never be folly there'!
And yet, these traits, while unquestionably significant, do not prove that this Jewish sect contained a set of
ideas that could serve as the raw material for the creation of a Gnostic myth. Some believe to have found in some scrolls evidence for a concept that could pave the way for an explicitly Gnostic notion, but may al-so be understood as following from the sect's own worldview. Still, the concept in question is somewhat a-typical of Qumran's mainstream ideology, and as such holds particular interest. The Qumran community believed that this interesting and unique concept exists ~

[4] The Torah becomes slack & justice never emerges in victory. The bad & wicked surround the righteous ~ therefore justice emerges perverted! [1:1-4] Profetisch visioen v/d profeet Chavakoek:
'HOE LANG NOG G D MOET IK OM HULP ROEPEN TERWIJL JIJ NIET LUISTERT NAAR ME: MOET IK NU NOG
"GEWELD!" BLIJVEN SCHREEUWEN OMDAT JIJ GEEN REDDING BRENGT? WAAROM TOON JE ME DIT ONHEIL &
ZIE JIJ ZELF AL DIE ELLENDE AAN ZONDER ER IETS AAN TE DOEN? IK ZIE ALLEEN NOG MAAR VERWOESTING &
GEWELD, OPKOMENDE TWISTEN & VOORTWOEREND GERUZIE! DE WET WORDT ZO ONDERMIJND, HET RECHT
KRIJGT NIET LANGER MEER ZIJN LOOP, WETTELOZEN VERDRINGEN DE RECHTVAARDIGEN:
'T RECHT WORDT TELKENS WEER OPNIEUW VERDRAAID!'
Needless to say, it is certainly possible to interpret this verse in the manner of the Pesharim, as referring to the sacred history of the sect. This is, indeed, the approach of Pesher Chavakuk:
'So the Torah becomes slack [The interpretation of this is] that they have rejected the Law of G d.
The wicked surround the righteous [Its interpretation: this is the Wicked Priest & the righteous] is the Tea-cher of Righteousness ...'
Despite its fragmentary nature, it is clear we are dealing with a concrete, historically grounded interpretation: the righteous is identified with the Teacher of Righteousness,
while the wicked who pursues him is the Wicked Priest.
