OR SMEARING VERY EXPENSIVE OIL
ON SOMEONE CHARGED WITH A DIVINE OFFICE:
a king,
like Sha'ul, or Daweedeweedeweed, or Shlomo;
a priest,
like AHARON & HÌS sòns, who were consecrated to "do G d's 'work'";
a prophet,
like YESHAYAHU OR ELISHA, who bore a special relationship with 'G d',
an intimacy that comes with being designated "G d's Special Representative" on earth!

The principal task of such a messiah, who was popularly believed to be a des-cendant of King Daweedeweedeweed,
was to rebuild David's Kingdom & reestablish the nation of Israel!

Thus, to càll oneself the 'real' messiah at a time like the Roman Occupational Might wàs tantamount to declaring war on Rome?!

the Romans & their evil allies to flee from YERUSHALAYIM in utter humiliation!
