"PHYSICISTS REFER TO THE OBSERVATION OF AN OBJECT AT GIVEN LOCATION IN SPACE-TIME ... AS AN EVENT:"
I have gotten somewhat used ( with thanks/acknowledgements, I'm not sure where or why, to Judth Butler) to thinking of each human being (and, I, JOBO, suppose, and to anticipate your argument further down, the species itself) as an "event."
But by your definition ("Physicists refer ..."

it would not be me, but rather only me here and now, that is the event. This seems to imply that, if I want somehow to comfort myself and others by naming the boundedness of myself and the species, I need some term other than "event." What shall that be?
Page 45: [Interruption: listening to a tape given to my rabbi (!) of a recent live concert by the Allman Brothers, the first track is the lead-in or first measures of "Jessica." Slightly slower than on the original album recording, to which I was listening as I drove my parents' red Opal a few days after I'd gotten my driver's license, west on West Park Avenue toward Campbell's Lake with L__ v__, tremendously happy, missed a stop sign at a time when a car (invisible around the intersection anyway) was coming, through which rear-ended my car and sent it spinning and, though no one was hurt, still leaves me with the almost unshakeable impression that this closest connection of my life until then was poisoned by that moment.]
