jbml3 for some reason (perhaps the early hour; I
was neither entirely awake nor quite lucid),
this mundane exchange led me to think of how astonishing it is
that we communicate by language at all, and how absolutely fundamental communication in language is,
first, to our sense of being human and, second,
to our sense of being
PER SE!
And a title popped into my head:
Time and Human Language Now.
It struck me
that this is the kind of thing
I could easily prepare a lecture on,
but also the kind of broad theme I don't see myself meditating on
for a whole book's worth.
A topic can,
of course, easily be too large
to be the subject of
an entire book.
But why
should the choices be limited
to writing more or fewer word
all by myself?
I
knew almost
instantly that I
had another
option
