IN THE MIDDLE EAST WERE
ALREADY FARMERS?

In 1850
more than 90% of humans were peasants,
and in the small villages along the Ganges, the Nile and the Yangtze nobody knew knew anything about
steam engines, railroads or telegraph lines! Yet the fate of those peasants had already been sealed in Manchester
& Birmingham by the handful of engineers, politicians and financiers who spearheaded the Industrial Revolution.
Steam engines, railroads & telegraphs transformed the production of food, textiles, vehicles & weapons,
giving industrial powers a decisive edge over traditional
agricultural societies?

Even when the Industrial
Revolution spread around the world & penetrated up the Ganges, Nile & Yangtze, most people
continued to believe in the Vedas, the Bible, the Qur'an & the Analects
more than in the steam engine.

En nu
heeft bijna iedereen radio,
tv, mobieltjes, tablets, computers, games & credit cards: men spreekt minstens
één of zelfs meerdere talen, bezoekt scholen, kan werken in kantoren, fabrieken,
handel & wandel bijna 'wereldwijd'?

Er is nog steeds woningnood na 75 jaar,
'n tekort aan onderwijzers, nieuwe scholen, beroepen
& studenten, men hoort van de dreigende crises & Einstürzende Neubauten,
atomaire, biologische & chemische raketwapens & -drones, clones,
blogs & vlogs? Swiebertjes, Bromsnorren, Fabeltjeskranten,
Sesamstraten, mocroturcobalconobalkanbewoners!

kortingen, oprotpremies, brexiteers,
Nexits, nieuwrechtsers
