invest só mùch effort in collecting information about all other countries, & in analyzing global ecological,
political & economic trends! When the US economy falters, even evangelical Republicans sometimes point
an accusing finger at China rather than at their own sins. Yet even though Herodotus & Thucydides under-
stood reality much better than the others of the Bible, when these two world views collided, the Bible won
by a knockout? The Greeks adopted the Jewish view of history, rather than vice versa! A thousand years
after Thucydides, the Greeks became convinced that if some barbarian horde invaded, surely it was like
divine punishment for their sins. No matter how mistaken the biblical world view was, it provided better
bases for large-scale human cooperation. Indeed, even today when US presidents take their oath of
office, théy put their hand on a bible. Similarly in many countries around the world,
including the USA & the UK, witnesses in courts put their hand on a bible
when swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth,
and nothing bùt the truth? It's ironic that they
swear to tell the truth on such a
book already brimming with
so many fictions,
myths &
errors.
