THE NEW MEDIA HELPED THOSE MASSES COORDINATE THEIR ACTIVITIES, SO THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FLOODED THE STREETS and SQUARES AT THE RIGHT MOMENT AND TOPPLED THE MUBARAK REGIME! However, it is one thing to bring 100,000 people to Tahrir Square, & quite another to gèt a grìp òn the political machinery, shake the right hands in the right back rooms and run a country much more effectively & efficiently?!! Consequently, when Mubarak stepped down these demonstrators could not fill the vacuum!!! Egypt had only two institutions sufficiently organized to be able to rule The COUNTRY: the army & the Muslim Brotherhood. Hence this revolution is high jacked first by this Brotherhood, & eventually by the ARMY! The Romanian ex-communists & the Aegyptian Generals were not more intelligent or nimble-fingered than either the old dictators or the demonstrators in Bucharest & Caïro. Their advantage lay in flexible cooperation? They cooperated better than the crowds, and they were quite willing to show far more flexibility than the hidebound Nicolae Ceausescu and Hosni Mubarak. Hoe dan ook, al die min of meer (ÒN)democratische regeringswisselingen sinds 1900, '45 & '54 zijn erg fascinerend, intrigerend & verbazingwekkend zowel aan binnen- als buitenkant met al die kopstukken & onderlingen, up- & downstarts!! 't Wàs meer dan un eeuw geleden nog de paus in Rome die ut precieze begin v/d 20ste eeuw moest vaststellen? Leo XIII koos voor de eerste januari 1900 in plaats van 1 januari 1901 & hoewel protestanten ut ur weer eens niet mee ééns waren, bleef zijn keuze wel van kracht! Die wereld in 1900 líjkt stabiel & vreedzaam. Ze is dan ook vooral nog verdeeld onder de kapitalistische koloniale 'koninkrijken'? Het übergeil Groot-Brittannië, fanatiek Frankrijk, doordraaiend Duitsland, improviserend Italia, nuffig Nederland, braaf België: de enige oorlog in 1900 is nog die tussen de Suidafrikaanse Boeren èn de Perfide Britten? De 19de-Eeuwse Orde werd echter bedreigd door nieuwe golven van uitvindingen & experimenten i/d verste hoeken & gaten v/d oude aardkloot!
Telefoon, radio, automobilisme, luchtballonnen, duikboten & vliegtuigen te land, ter zee & i/d lucht. Vredesconferenties houden ut oude Europa niet àf van un oorlog die voorgoed un eind maakt aan àl het 'goede oude' Vertrouwde: oorlog die door 't deelnemen v/d USA nu un echte wéreldoorlog wordt, tot Russische Revolutie leidt, doorgaande opkomst v/h (ultra)nationalisme in Azië, Afrika & Amerika etc.!!
