3. The notion of space and time as an empty arena

4. In his younger years, Einstein conceived of the past, present, and future coexisting in different parts of an unchanging four-dimensional space-time. In this picture, for as-yet unexplained reasons, individual consciousness can look into three spatial directions, but experiences time as moving from point to point with no depth perception in the time direction. But this "block universe," besides posing mathematical and conceptual problems for modern physics, allows for no real change, other than the inexorable motion of human consciousness through the predetermined script written into our trajectory through space-time. In order to re-introduce dynamical evolution to physics, an additional measure of time must be defined.

5. Spatial & temporal separations characterize the physical configuration at a given chronological moment. This moment is determined by the flow of historical time, identical for all observers, and always moving forward. The change in space-time configuration from one historical moment to another is called evolution, and represents the physical influence of relationship on the interacting objects, not merely shifting points of view between frames of reference. The four space-time separations are dynamical variables - they evolve as the historical time advances, in turn affecting the quantitative form of the interaction through its dependence on the system configuration.

Blijkbaar is 'iets'/'alles' ooit ontstaan en weer bezig om te 'vergaan': het was, werd/is, veranderde/paste zich aan of verdween & wijzelf zijn eveneens onderdeel van dat geheel door middel van onze ervaring, (on)oplettendheid, nieuwsgierige experimenten & 't 'nut' ervan!
