abstain from unnecessary work; services in the Synagogue?! It is customary
to introduce into the home meal an item of apples & honey as a symbol of 'Sweet Life',
& to send greeting cards for also wishing each other 'A HAPPY NEW YEAR'! In the Synagogue
a ram's horn (SHOFAR) is sounded during the service as a rallying call to the conscience to AWAKEN IT
TO A SENSE OF GREATER SPIRITUAL URGENCY! NB: the numerical year 5777/2017 is a purely fictitious figure
based upon biblical calculations supposedly dating back to 'the Beginning of Creation?
The Ten Days between New Year & the following Festiva are known
as THE TEN DAYS OF PENITANCE & should be devoted
to a serious attempt to put into practice
the High Resolutions made @

the 'new year'?!
