Silent As A Ghost
I arrive at my classroom on my first day of school,
Instead of the warm comfort of acceptance,
I feel the cold chill of isolation.
No one will talk to me,
Not even that cool guy leaning back on the wall over there.
As I come through the door, I watch you walk right pass me,
You look at me with such disrespect as you make your way out of this place.
I decide to take my leave. But as I approach the door, I see you returning with a pack of cigarettes in your hand,
You walk right passed me; without noticing that I’m even here.
I watch you mingling with your friends
Telling jokes, having a laugh
And that makes me sad to see when nobody even notices me,
No matter how many times I try to communicate, everyone remains ignorant to the fact that
I’m right in front of him or her.
As I head out the door and go down a narrow street, I feel so cold heading down this ghostly road.
Every person I meet just passes through me like I don’t even exist.
Nobody speaks to me, not even when I give a greeting.
They don’t acknowledge that I’m here; I don’t know why I deserve this,
I feel so silent as a ghost.
