2809811 day of Atonement: Yom Kippur 10 Tishri in

Q&A
Sept./Oct.
ORIGINALLY THE DAY
FOR NATIONAL REPENTANCE FOR SIN,
WHICH THE HIGH PRIEST CONFESSED (holding the horns of a "SCAPEGOAT"knipoog
his own sins, the sins of the priesthood, and the sin of the whole nation?!!!! Modern Significance:
This 1 day festival (orthodox & liberal alike) is devoted entirely to Prayer & Fasting. Services are held in the Synagogue virtually
throughout the day, and the main theme is still "REPENTANCE FOR SIN" coupled with the desire to remedy our staying from G d by a genuine attempt ar reformed conduct which will help to make us more "AT-ONE" with 'him/her': thus this ay of atonement has at all an automatic cleansing effect, but bod should hééd the Rabbinic Injunction: "IF THOU HAST SINNED AGAINST THY NEIGHBOUR, FIRST GÓ AND PUT THINGS RIGHT WITH 'her/him', otherwise the ay of atonement does nòt absolve thee"! (b) This serves as an inner indication to us as to how strong (or weak) is our self-discipline, so that we ate either encouraged to carry out our other resolutions in the knowledge that we possess the self discipline to succeed, or we are warned that our self discipline is weak (if we break our fast) and therefore we need to carry out more spiritual exercises to be able to straighten & strengthen it we hope to put our resolutions into practice! (c) By casting aside all material considerations during this day we are enabled to concentrate entirely upon the spiritual aspect of life. And then again of course the ceremonial observances: candles are lit in the home at the commencement of the Festival but there is no 'kiddush';
naturally, one should abstain of unneccessary work, and one should
attend Services in the Synagogue. These were
amongst others {?} their rules of laws
& customs also Yeshua
& most other
Jews were
